Governor Training Case Study: Grove Vale

A wealth of Governor Training

Grove Vale is an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ primary school in Great Barr, Birmingham, educating over 400+ pupils aged 4 to 11.

“Our school views SIPS as a dedicated centre of expertise for Governor Training. It’s conveniently located within West Bromwich, a few miles from our school, offering a complete range of quality courses. Content offers practical knowledge and advice and supports our Governing Board to be effective in our roles and responsibilities.

“Courses are accessible to all, with sessions that are relevant and appeal to new governors, in addition to those that focus specifically on specialist roles and more in-depth sessions that are relevant to experienced governors.

“The school purchases the annual training subscription as it is important that governors are supported and have the opportunity to meet with other governors from other schools to share their experiences and knowledge. The package is comprehensive and there really is something for everyone with a complete syllabus.

“In fact, no less than nine governors out of a Governing Board of 11 have attended at least one course in the last 12 months, including ‘GDPR’, ‘SEN & Disabilities’ and ‘Advanced School Finance’.”

Louise MacCarthy, Chair of the Governing Board
