Carbon Literacy Training with SIPS Education
As the climate crisis continues to accelerate, schools have a crucial role to play in shaping a greener, more sustainable future for the next generation.
The Department for Education has set a clear expectation: by the end of 2025, every school must appoint a Sustainability Lead and have a Climate Action Plan in place. For many schools, that raises an important question – where do we start?
At SIPS Education, we’re proud to support schools on this journey through our accredited Carbon Literacy Training, designed specifically for education professionals and recommended by the DfE as high‑quality CPD.
🌱 What is Carbon Literacy – and why does it matter?
Carbon Literacy is a globally recognised learning programme, developed by The Carbon Literacy Project, that equips participants with the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to take meaningful climate action.
Through the training, school leaders and staff will:
- Understand where carbon emissions come from within education settings
- Identify actions that deliver the greatest impact towards net zero
- Commit to two realistic, high‑impact carbon‑reduction actions
- Feel confident making informed, low‑carbon decisions
- Engage pupils, colleagues and stakeholders in positive climate conversations
In short, it’s about moving beyond awareness to action.
⭐ Feedback from schools
SIPS recently hosted a school‑focused version of the programme, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.
Delegates described the sessions as eye‑opening, informative and thought‑provoking, highlighting how the training sparked new ideas and helped them identify practical next steps for their own school communities.
Participants left feeling better equipped to:
- Lead sustainability work with confidence
- Align their plans with DfE expectations
- Turn ambition into measurable action
🧠 Flexible, expert‑led online training
