Careers related learning for primary schools
SIPS is currently collaborating with 34 primary schools across Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall, and Coventry to implement an innovative programme aimed at broadening the horizons of primary-aged children.
Research has shown that children as young as six years old can form aspirations and develop stereotypes that may limit their future career choices. To address this, we are initiating a Career-Related Learning (CRL) program to engage business volunteers like yourself in fostering a more expansive view of the world of work among these young minds.
By volunteering in this program, you will play a pivotal role in achieving the following objectives:
Increase Awareness and Aspirations: Expose primary-aged children to a diverse range of jobs and career pathways, broadening their awareness of future possibilities.
Remove Barriers and Stereotypes: Challenge stereotypes that may limit children’s thinking about their future careers, fostering a more inclusive and open-minded perspective.
Provide Realistic Views: Offer children a forward-looking, realistic understanding of various jobs and the ways we work in the contemporary world.
Link Education to Work: Develop children’s understanding of the connection between what they learn in school, the skills they acquire, and the real-world applications in the job market.
Enhance Parental Engagement: Encourage increased parental involvement in supporting children to explore a diverse range of future careers, fostering a collaborative approach to career development.
Support Curriculum Efficacy: Contribute to building pupils’ personal development, aligning with the requirements set by Ofsted, and enhancing the overall efficacy of the curriculum.
Your participation in this programme can make a significant difference in the lives of these young learners, empowering them to dream big and break through societal limitations. We believe that your unique insights and experiences will provide invaluable inspiration and guidance to these students.
If you are able to volunteer and support us in this endeavour, please click on the following link https://forms.office.com/e/UVknd0Ynr5 to sign up. Your commitment will make a lasting impact on the future of these children.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to the development and empowerment of our local youth. We look forward to the possibility of working together to make a positive change in the lives of the next generation.
