We are excited to invite your organisation to participate in a new initiative supporting career-related learning (CRL) for primary school students. We’re collaborating with primary schools across Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall, and Birmingham to help children dream big about their future careers.

Start Small; Dream Big

Research shows that children as young as six begin to form aspirations and sometimes adopt limiting stereotypes based on gender, ethnicity, or background. By age nine, they may start to abandon their biggest ambitions. The Careers & Enterprise Company recently launched a £2.6 million pilot programme aimed at addressing this issue, helping children in 2,250 primary schools connect their learning to the world of work and expand their understanding of future career possibilities.

By volunteering your time, you’ll help:

  • Raise awareness and aspirations among primary-aged children about the range of jobs and career pathways.
  • Break down barriers and stereotypes that limit children’s thinking about their futures.
  • Provide children with a forward-looking, realistic understanding of different jobs and the evolving workplace.
  • Connect what they learn in school with skills needed for future employment.
  • Increase parental engagement in helping children explore career possibilities.
  • Support the curriculum’s effectiveness in fostering personal development, as highlighted by Ofsted.

Thank you for your support in shaping the future aspirations of young students.
