to encourage every school in Sandwell to work with us, so that there is an equity of opportunity
for children to learn a musical instrument during their time at school.

The West Midlands Lord-Lieutenant’s Young Active Citizen Award is back for 2025–26, and it’s time to recognise the incredible contributions of young people across our region.

This prestigious award celebrates individuals aged up to 25 who embody the Commonwealth values of humanity, equality, and diversity. We’re looking for young people who:

  • Use their skills and talents to strengthen local communities
  • Promote diversity, understanding, and reconciliation
  • Volunteer and deliver measurable impact through community projects
  • Overcome personal barriers and help others access opportunities
  • Show innovation and leadership in community initiatives

Age Categories:

  • Up to 11 years
  • 12–14 years
  • 15–18 years
  • 19–25 years
