SIPS has shown its commitment to both its staff and the environment by signing up to two key agreements, the Armed Forces Covenant and the WM Net Zero Business Pledge.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge to support serving personnel, service leavers, veterans, and their families; forces-friendly employers sign the covenant to show respect through supporting colleagues who are reservists or veterans.

Net Zero

The WM Net Zero Business Pledge demonstrates a commitment to support the ambitions of the West Midlands to lead the green revolution and become a net zero carbon economy by 2041. Businesses can help achieve this through the likes of food waste reduction, greener energy use, use of electric vehicles, print savings, recycling and sustainable procurement requirements.

Community

SIPS CEO Brian Cape commented: “Our people and the community in which we work are two key focuses for us, so it makes perfect sense to sign up to both these commitments.

“As a cooperative at the heart of the community it’s in our DNA to sign up to such initiatives; with regards to the WM Net Zero Business Pledge, we are painfully aware that every business in the region must play their part in helping to create a net zero carbon economy within the next 30 years.”
