Wednesday February 8th 2023 saw one of a series of mock-interview sessions, delivered throughout the academic year by our Education Business Partnership Team to support Years 10-13 students toward apprenticeships and into work.
We had the pleasure of working with students at George Salter Academy in West Bromwich and Nicola Dickinson, Careers Leader at the Academy said:
“Today’s year 12 mock interview day has been invaluable in giving students their first experience of an interview situation and helping them to prepare for future apprenticeship, college and university interviews”
Pictured interviewing is past-George Salter student Darren Clarke, who now runs his own IT company, DSC Technology. Darren said:
“Leaving sixth form halfway through and jumping into an apprenticeship was one of the best moves I made. It opened my eyes to the world of work. I then had multiple opportunities to grow both my career and skill set which led me to setting up my own business in IT and sharing my knowledge with my customers, including how to use IT as an enabler in business. I now love going back into schools with pupils who are wondering what their next steps are and helping them see the benefits of an apprenticeship, how the process works and how they can give you both qualifications and experience to further a career in almost all fields.”
